The objective of this qualification is to support those individuals needing to become a first-aider in the workplace. The content of the qualification meets the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland (HSENI) requirements for training first aiders in those organisations that have identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first-aid needs assessment.
The qualification covers:
- roles and responsibilities
- assessing an emergency situation safely
- CPR and AED
- administering first aid to a choking casualty
- putting a casualty in the recovery position
- dealing with shock, burns, scalds, bleeds and minor injuries
- using adrenaline auto-injectors
This qualification approves workplace first aiders for a period of 3 years, after which point learners will need to retake the course.
It is recommended that learners refresh their knowledge annually.
Entry requirements :
- Min of 14 years of age
- Physically able to complete the physical assessment
- Min Level 1 in English
